Closed internet has cost the country 100 billion
The fact that the government shut down the internet in Bangladesh in an attempt to prevent the student protests that broke out earlier this summer could cost the country ten billion dollars, equivalent to just over SEK 100 billion, reports Bloomberg.

Hundreds risk eye damage after demonstrations
At least 500 people in Bangladesh are at risk of losing their sight after being shot in the eyes during protests in recent weeks. This is reported by Al Jazeera.
The non-lethal ammunition used by the police at several of the protests causes severe injuries to those who are hit in the eyes.

Students resume protests in Bangladesh
Bangladeshi students are calling for new protests against the government and Prime Minister Shikh Hasina, reports AFP. That after the government ignored the protesters' demands to release their jailed leaders and apologize for the students who were killed.
At least 205 people have lost their lives during the protests.
The government has deployed the military, declared a curfew and shut down the internet in order to quell the unrest.
