A small hope for peace has been raised in Sudan, international news agencies write. On Tuesday, the country's foreign ministry, which is fighting on the same side as the army, accepted the US invitation for peace talks in Geneva, albeit with some conditions.
The conditions are that the paramilitary group RSF, which has so far taken over 8 out of 18 state capitals, must withdraw. In addition, they want to discuss the structure of the peace talks with the United States in advance.
Despite the backlash, it is seen as the best chance in months to end the 15-month war, which has caused the world's worst humanitarian disaster.

Girls are held as sex slaves during Sudan's civil war
Rape and arranged marriages affect women and girls during Sudan's civil war, according to a new report by Human Rights Watch (HRW).
Both warring sides use sexual violence as a weapon, but above all the paramilitary group RSF, which is at war with the regular army, writes The Telegraph.
Many testify that they were kidnapped, tortured and imprisoned as sex slaves. Some rapes have been so brutal that women and girls have died, writes The Guardian. Several girls have become pregnant.
Fighters for RSF have kept girls "under conditions that may amount to sexual slavery", according to HRW.
The report identifies at least 262 sex crime victims between the ages of 9 and 60.
