Harris Loss
Democrats Condemned by Focus Groups: “Lazy Koalas”

It’s Not Just About Kamala Harris or Joe Biden – Democrats in the US Have Every Reason to Be Worried in the Post-Election Analysis, Politico Writes. According to focus groups with voters who previously voted for the Democrats, the party is weak and too focused on diversity and elites, a new survey from the Democratic group Navigator Research shows, the site writes.

Participants were asked to compare the Democratic Party to an animal and chose, for example, an ostrich because “they have their heads in the sand and are only committed to their own ideas, even when they fail”. Another chose the animal koala because they are “smug and lazy”. Overall, the picture was that the party doesn’t get things done and “doesn’t fight for ordinary people”.

The focus groups, which were surveyed immediately after the election, included young men who voted for Biden in 2020 and Trump in 2024, voters who voted for Biden in 2020 but not at all this year, and voters who did not vote in 2020 but voted for Trump this year.

Biden's decision: 37 death sentences to life in prison

US President Joe Biden is commuting the death sentences of 37 prisoners to life in prison without parole, the Wall Street Journal reports.

The decision is intended to prevent the incoming Trump administration from executing the men, all of whom were convicted of murder.

"I am more convinced than ever that we must end the use of the death penalty at the federal level. I cannot in good conscience stand by and allow a new administration to resume executions that I stopped," Biden said in a statement.

Three federal death sentences are not overturned, including for Boston Marathon bomber Dzokhar Tsarnev.

Biden praised and criticized: “Blood on his hands”

Joe Biden’s decision to commute the death sentences of 37 prisoners to life imprisonment is met with mixed reactions among the victims’ relatives, writes the AP.

Retired police officer Donnie Oliverio, whose colleague was murdered by one of the prisoners, believes that Biden is acting right.

– Killing the person who killed my police colleague and best friend would not have given me any peace, he says.

Heather Turner, whose mother was murdered during a bank robbery in 2017, believes that the guilty party’s death sentence should be carried out and accuses Biden of abusing his power and not taking the victims into account.

“He and his supporters have blood on their hands,” she writes in a post on Facebook.

Biden's decision covers 37 of 40 people sentenced to death at the federal level.
