Russia and Ukraine met in trilateral talks with the United States to discuss a possible end to the war – but no major results should be expected yet, according to Vladimir Putin's spokesman.

– Much work remains, says Vladimir Putin's spokesman Dmitry Peskov.

Peskov says that the talks may not be very friendly, but that they have begun in a "constructive" spirit.

Russia repeatedly refers to Putin's meeting with Donald Trump in Alaska this summer. According to Russian statements, the presidents agreed on a framework, and according to media reports, it concerns Russia's demand for the entire Ukrainian region of Donbass.

Dmitry Peskov also refers to the alleged framework and emphasizes that “the territorial parts” of it are of crucial importance for Russia.
