Several dead in landslide in Indonesia

At least 17 people have died in massive landslides in Indonesia after several days of heavy rain.

The landslides buried parts of a village in the western part of the island nation early Saturday. More than 50 houses have been seriously damaged and more than 650 people have been evacuated.

According to local rescue leaders, dozens of people are still missing and more landslides are feared.

Among those confirmed dead are four marines and 19 soldiers are still missing, according to the military. The marines were training in the area ahead of deployment on the border with Papua New Guinea.
