The impeachment against Trump
Analysis: The prosecution evidence that the US is not lost
Donald Trump saws and negates virtually every democratic institution that goes against him. That's what Politico's Jack Shafer writes in an analysis of the aftermath after the announcement that the ex-president is being charged with a crime.
"In his world, a verdict against him is enough to call it corruption and a banana republic," writes Shafer.
He believes that the fact that Trump is actually being tried is proof that the United States is not lost.
Jeffrey Blehar writes in the National Review that the reporting on the content of the indictment against Trump indicates that prosecutor Alvin Bragg made a misjudgment.
“The crime he appears to be charged with is falsification of business documents, which normally carries a fine. But Bragg is trying to make this sound like a felony," writes Blehar.
