Blankers have lost billions in the Tesla rally

After just four trading days, bearish speculators in Tesla stock have lost $5.5 billion. This is shown by data from the analysis firm S3 Partners, several media reports.

The stock has surged over 35 percent since the electric car maker's report late last week.

- This is not a 'short squeeze' as we have seen continued short selling of approximately 2 million shares during the week, says Ihor Dusaniwsky, head of analysis at S3.

According to the research firm, Tesla is the third most shorted major company in the US, with 3.97 percent of the available shares shorted.

Law school in Odesa attacked – four dead

At least four people have died and 28 have been injured after a Russian robot attack in the Ukrainian port city of Odesa, Reuters reports.

The local TV channel Suspiln reports that it is a law school that has been hit and that the school's principal, member of parliament Serhiy Kivalov, has been injured. According to Governor Oleg Kiper, two children and a pregnant woman are also among the injured.

Dmytro Pletentyuk, spokesman for the Ukrainian Navy, says it was a ballistic robot with cluster munitions that hit the building.

The trial against the German Reichsbürger movement began

The loosely assembled group of right-wing extremists, monarchists and gun enthusiasts wanted to overthrow the German government and seize power. But before the plan was put into action, the police stormed their premises.

The first of three extensive trials against the so-called Reichsbürger movement began in Stuttgart on Monday, German media write. Nine people are suspected of high treason and terrorist crimes.

The prosecutor believes that the persons have been involved in the formation of the movement's military branch, something they themselves deny.

The group is led by a man who calls himself Prince Heinrich XIII, who is a descendant of the former noble family of Reuss. The trial against him and several other leaders begins on May 21. Before then, the judiciary must decide whether the movement is to be classified as a terrorist organization or not.
