Netanyahu: We're going into Rafah with or without a ceasefire deal with Hamas
Israel will carry out an invasion of Rafah to "wipe out Hamas" regardless of whether a ceasefire and hostage release agreement is reached or not. This is what Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says on Tuesday, according to Reuters.
- That we would end the war before the goal has been achieved is unthinkable, says Netanyahu.
He further says that the evacuation of civilians from Rafah has now begun in preparation for the offensive.
Israel put forward a proposal for a ceasefire on Friday, which Hamas has taken note of and is expected to respond to shortly.

The Israel-Hamas war|The reactionsAmerican lawyers demand an end to arms to Israel
More than 90 lawyers, 20 of whom work in US President Joe Biden's administration, demand that the US stop supplying weapons to Israel, reports Politico. This is because they believe that Israel's war in Gaza violates American and international law.
In a joint letter that will be sent to Attorney General Merrick Garland in the coming days, they write that Israel's actions are, among other things, a violation of the Geneva Convention, which prohibits disproportionate attacks on civilians.
The letter is one in a series of signs that support for the US line regarding the relationship with Israel is becoming increasingly weaker even in circles close to President Biden, writes the news site.

Pro-Palestinian students occupy building on university campus
Pro-Palestinian students at Columbia University in New York have broken windows and entered Hamilton Hall, a building on campus, NBC News reports.
According to the student newspaper Columbia Spectator, dozens of students will now occupy the building and shout slogans. They also reportedly hung banners and Palestinian flags around the building.
On Monday, the university announced that students who do not heed the calls not to demonstrate on university grounds will be suspended.

Universities begin suspending protesting students
Columbia University in New York has begun suspending students who demonstrate against the war in Gaza and who defied the university's call to move the protests off campus, writes NBC.
The university had told the students to leave the campus by Monday evening, Swedish time. Those who do not heed the call will be "suspended pending further investigation" and stopped from completing the spring semester.
"This disgusting intimidation tactic means nothing in comparison to the more than 34,000 Palestinians who died," the students said during a press conference after the deadline passed, writes TT.
It is not clear how many students have been suspended so far.
