Russia sends nuclear submarine to Cuba for exercises
Russia is sending a nuclear-powered submarine and three other military vessels to Cuba, several media outlets write. The ships will take part in exercises and the whole thing is judged by American defense sources to be a response to the US's support for Ukraine, writes TT.
In a press release, the Cuban Ministry of Defense writes that none of the ships carry nuclear weapons.
"So their stopover in our country does not pose a threat to the region," it says.
According to Cuba, the Russian frigate Gorshkov, the nuclear-powered submarine Kazan, the oil tanker Pashin and the tug Nikolay Tzhiker are participating. The visit takes place between June 12 and June 17.
American sources have previously stated that the visit was underway
