High-level meeting in Beijing
Putin and Xi: We can live until we are 150 years old

With organ transplants and modern medical technology, it will soon be possible to live until we are 150 years old. Vladimir Putin, 72, and Xi Jinping, 72, said this to each other during their state visit to Beijing when they thought the Chinese state television cameras were not recording them, several media outlets report.

Xi began by saying through his interpreter that people rarely lived past the age of 70 in the past.

“But these days, you are still a child at 70,” he continued.

“With the development of biotechnology, human organs can be continuously transplanted and people can live longer and longer, and even achieve immortality,” Putin replied through his interpreter.

The conversation ended with Xi saying that forecasts indicate that people in this century can live until they are 150 years old.

Trump's Climate Report Criticized: "Makes a Mockery of Science"

More than 85 climate scientists from around the world are launching a strong attack on the Trump administration's attempts to downplay the threat of climate change. This is reported by American media.

In a 459-page document, the scientists reject the conclusions of a prominent report from the US Department of Energy this summer. They accuse the department of selectively selecting data, misinterpreting it and circumventing normal scientific scrutiny. According to the scientists, the report "makes a mockery" of science.

The LA Times writes that it is the strongest attempt to reject Trump's climate policy to date.

Elections in Norway
Høyre risks fiasco – environmental activists rush

The Norwegian party Høyre is facing a possible fiasco ahead of the election, which is being held in less than a week. In the latest opinion poll before the election, the party has fallen to its lowest number in over 15 years, reports TT.

In an opinion poll conducted for ABC News and the Althingi, only 13.4 percent say they will vote for Høyre, which is Norway's equivalent of the Moderates.

Many of the voters are believed to be going to the populist Progress Party (FRP).

- Høyre is not managing to stop the flow to the FRP, says Martin Stubban at the opinion polling institute Opinion to the news agency NTB.

The environmental party MDG is making the greatest progress, and could become a supporting party if the current Social Democratic Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre can form a government again. In the opinion poll, Støre's party is the largest with 26.7 percent.

Thailand's acting prime minister Phumtham Wechayachai has decided to dissolve parliament, AFP reports. His party announced the news after the main opposition party supported the rival candidate, former minister Anutin Charnvirakul, for the presidency.

Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra was ousted last week following a ruling by the country's constitutional court.
