New start awaits in Danish government negotiations
Denmark's outgoing Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen, who has been trying to form a government for over a month, says that a new round of soundings is to be expected.
Several parties in Denmark want to see the Liberal Party leader Troels Lund Poulsen as the new soundingsman in the drawn-out government negotiations.
Lars Løkke Rasmussen from the Moderates, who is in a swing-and-roll role, said on Friday that he does not want to continue negotiations with Frederiksen, but wants to give Troels Lund a try.
Social Democrat Frederiksen seems to be giving in:
– Now we will see what the parties say, she said after a visit to the house of Denmark's King Frederik X.
Several parties want to give a new so-called royal investigator the chance to form a government after the election on March 24, in the protracted negotiations that have broken time records.
