The Havana Syndrome
Review singles out Russian group for Havana syndrome
An unknown group within the Russian intelligence service may be behind the mysterious so-called Havana syndrome that has affected American diplomats worldwide. This is shown by an examination by The Insider, Der Spiegel and the CBS News program "60 Minutes".
Early last year, a US intelligence report concluded that the syndrome was probably not caused by a foreign power. But according to the review, there are several things that indicate that the Russian intelligence unit "Unit 29155" was involved in the cases of illness reported since 2016.
Among other things, several who fell ill state that they saw people from the unit shortly before they became ill with dizziness and nausea, and the media's mapping has also been able to connect several "29155" employees to the places where people fell ill.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov dismisses the review completely, and calls the accusations "unfounded," writes Reuters.
