Thousands flee Indonesian region after several eruptions
Over 10,000 flee the area around the Ruang volcano on the Indonesian island of Sulawesi after the volcano erupted five times in the past 24 hours, AP writes. The authorities have raised the threat level to the highest possible.
Tourists and residents are advised to stay at least six kilometers from the volcano and the nearest airport, in Manado, has been closed.
Authorities fear that parts of the volcano could break off, land in the sea and cause a tsunami. It happened during an eruption in 1871.

Amsterdam puts a stop to new hotel construction
Amsterdam is cracking down on overtourism and putting a stop to new hotel construction, reports Reuters. A new hotel will now only be allowed to rebuild another bar, if it does not mean more beds and if the new hotel is better from, for example, a sustainability point of view.
In the past, the Dutch capital has banned marijuana in public places and required guided tours to no longer pass windows where prostitution is sold.

An announcement about Tiktok's future in the US is getting closer. This after Speaker Mike Johnson announced that the Tiktok bill, which has already been approved by the House of Representatives, will be included in a new legislative package, writes Bloomberg. The package is expected to be fast-tracked in the Senate at the end of the week and deals, among other things, with additional support to Israel, Ukraine and Taiwan.
If the package gets the green light, President Joe Biden has confirmed that he will sign as early as the middle of next week.
