Analysis: Truss's book is like a review on Tripadvisor
In a new book, former British Prime Minister Liz Truss writes about her 49 days as the country's leader. As her time at 10 Downing Street only lasted through September and October 2022, the book appears more like an extra-long review on Tripadvisor than a traditional memoir, writes Gaby Hinsliff in an analysis in The Guardian.
"To call the book 'Ten Years to save the west' suggests confused confidence, given that Britain needed to be rescued from the author after less than seven weeks," writes Hinliff.
Sky News' Rob Powell takes an interest in Truss' portrayal of daily life in the Prime Minister's residence. Truss reacts to the fact that she had to book hair and makeup appointments herself, and states that there are fleas in the prime minister's residence. She also says that she ordered new furniture for the residence, but "we had been evicted before they could arrive".

Truss about Biden's diss: "Shocked and stunned"
At the same time as the British market collapsed under Liz Truss's rule, US President Joe Biden took the opportunity to diss the mini-budget presented by the Tory Party. It appears in Truss's book, which will be released on Tuesday, writes The Guardian.
Biden said in a statement that "he disagreed with the move to cut taxes for the very richest." A comment that did not go down well with Truss.
"I was shocked and amazed that he broke with practice and commented on British domestic affairs," writes the short-lived minister in the book.
However, Biden's comment came after the budget was presented and the market collapsed. In addition, it was said only six days before Truss was forced to leave the post of prime minister, the newspaper writes.

Truss considered sacking the bank manager after the fiasco
Former Prime Minister Liz Truss considered sacking Bank of England Governor Andrew Bailey during her short time in power. This in an attempt to dismantle the "economic establishment" which contributed to her having to resign after only 49 days, she tells the Financial Times.
In her new book, Truss describes how her relationship with Bailey quickly deteriorated when the mini-budget she tabled completely collapsed the British bond market.
- I was a democratically elected prime minister and Bailey has a mandate of eight years, which makes him difficult to fire, says Truss to the FT.
In the end, the short-lived minister decided not to fire the central bank governor as that would also have triggered a "market crisis".
