Turkey singles out the PKK as responsible for the terrorist act

Turkish Defense Minister Yasar Güler singles out the PKK as responsible for Wednesday's terrorist attack in Ankara, Turkish media reports.

- Every time we give the PKK villains the punishment they deserve, but they never come to their senses, he says according to Hürriyet.

Earlier in the evening, Güler said that the authorities will "hunt down the terrorists until they are all eliminated," and that they will "exercise their revenge."

Four people have been killed and 14 injured in the attack that targeted the state-owned Turkish aerospace and defense company TAI.

The PKK has not claimed responsibility for the attack.

Suspected terrorist act in Ankara – four dead and 14 injured

Four people have died and 14 have been injured in what Turkish authorities classify as a suspected terrorist act against the state-owned aviation and defense company TAI, several media reports.

The Minister of the Interior, Ali Yerlikaya, writes on X that two "terrorists have also been neutralised".

It was in the afternoon that some kind of explosion took place at the company and images show how armed perpetrators entered the company. Several Turkish media have had information that a hostage situation may have been going on, but at 5 p.m. Selim Cirpanoglum, who is the mayor of the district, announces that the attack is over.

A female and a male suspected terrorist are said to have been killed in connection with the attack.

Rutte and Putin show support for Turkey - Erdogan thanks

Vladimir Putin condemns Wednesday afternoon's suspected terrorist act in Ankara. He says this at a joint press conference with his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan at the ongoing BRICS meeting in Russia, writes Reuters.

- I thank you for your concern. Four people have been killed and 14 injured in this act of terror, Erdogan replied before the two leaders started talking about other things.

NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte has also shown support for Turkey.

"I just spoke with Erdogan about the terrorist attack in Ankara. My message was clear: NATO stand by Turkey," writes Rutte on X.
