The change of power in the US

Analysis: Trump will huff and puff at the European house

Europe is in trouble and faces both internal and external challenges. This is what Simon Tisdall writes in an analysis in The Guardian. He mentions, among other things, that the EU's borders are threatened by Russia in the east, while the relationship with the US and the new president Donald Trump is facing a rare strain.

How Europe will stand up during the crisis year of 2025 depends, among other things, on how European leaders manage to handle the challenges. Tisdall is optimistic and believes that Europe has a good chance of withstanding the strain.

"The more Trump and other predators huff and puff like the wolf in the tale of the three little pigs, the stronger the house of Europe can become," he writes.

One of Trump's closest allies, Elon Musk, has already started to huff and puff. In an analysis on SvD, Rolf Gustavsson writes about Musk's "project to build an ideological empire with his allies on the far right".

"For the new EU leadership with Ursula von der Leyen and António Costa, Elon Musk is an even more troublesome antagonist than Donald Trump in the long term", he writes.

The twists and turns around Tiktok
Sources: White House in talks with Oracle about Tiktok

Donald Trump and his administration plan to save Tiktok in the US by letting software giant Oracle and a group of external investors take over the American part of the social media giant, according to NPR's information.

The White House is currently working on an agreement that means that Chinese Bytedance will become a minority owner and that Oracle will take care of algorithms, data collection and the software.

- The goal is for Oracle to effectively monitor what happens to Tiktok, says a source with insight into the talks.

Among the "external investors" are Microsoft, NPR writes.

Following US law changes, TikTok must be banned in the country unless the company's US operations are sold to a buyer from the US or one of the country's allies.

Sources: Trump lifts Biden's ban on sending large bombs to Israel

Donald Trump is lifting a ban on sending MK84 bombs to Israel, Axios reports, citing three Israeli sources. Biden and his administration had put a stop to the delivery, but the White House, under Trump's leadership, has now ordered the Pentagon to deliver the bombs.

According to the sources, the Israeli government was informed on Friday. 1,800 bombs are to be loaded onto a ship and delivered to Israel in the coming days.

The bombs weigh about 900 kilograms and Biden halted deliveries last spring, citing the risk of large civilian casualties if they were used in Gaza.

Trump opens up for the US to rejoin the WHO

During a speech in Las Vegas, Nevada, Donald Trump opened up for the US to return to the World Health Organization WHO. The statement comes just five days after he signed a presidential order for the US to leave the WHO.

- Maybe we could consider rejoining, I don't know. We might need to clean up there a little first, he says, according to NBC News.

The US president talked about the US paying more to be part of the organization than China has and harshly criticized Biden and his administration.

- What in the name of peace is wrong with these people, he says.
