Israel has decided to respond to Iran's attacks, says British Foreign Minister David Cameron.

The approach has been decided - but not the timing, writes the Jerusalem Post.

- We hope that it happens in a way that escalates the situation as little as possible, says Cameron.

It is clear that Israel has decided to respond to Iran's attacks that took place this weekend, said British Foreign Secretary David Cameron, who landed in Israel on Wednesday morning, according to the Reuters news agency.

Cameron says at the same time that he hopes the response does not lead to further escalation of the conflict.

The Israeli Jerusalem Post writes that the Israeli military (IDF) has decided how the counterattack will go about, but that no date has been set. The data comes from several sources.

IDF Chief of Staff Herzi Halevi said yesterday that Israeli citizens should be able to celebrate the holiday of Pesach "about as normal". The holiday begins on Monday, which could mean two things, the newspaper writes: that a counterattack is not urgent for the IDF, or that they are trying to trick Iran into lowering its guard and thus be able to carry out a surprise attack.

It is also written that very complex preparations remain and that the counterattack decision can still be changed, something that also affects a timetable.

At the same time, all indications are that Israel will try to avoid an escalation of the conflict, according to the newspaper.

Want to show solidarity

The British foreign secretary also wants to see new sanctions against Iran, after the more than 300 drones and robots that were sent against Israel on Saturday.

- They must receive a clear message from the G7 countries.

He is making the visit to show solidarity with Israel after "the horrific attack from Iran", he says.

Iran's attack on Saturday is seen as retaliation for an attack on the Iranian embassy complex in the Syrian capital Damascus on April 1. Although Israel has not officially claimed the attack, it is believed to have been carried out by the IDF.

Focus on Gaza

During his visit, Cameron is expected to meet Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and other Israeli politicians, but also visit the West Bank, where the Palestinian Authority rules.

- The big need now is to focus again on Hamas, on the hostages, to get emergency aid and to get a break in the conflict in Gaza, he says according to Reuters.

He will then go on to the G7 meeting of foreign ministers in Italy.
