Fed vs. inflation
Fed top: No one has opened the champagne yet

Inflation is still above the target level of 2 percent and the labor market is resilient. Therefore, the Federal Reserve must be cautious with interest rate cuts in the future, say both members Mary Daly and Adriana Kugler, according to Bloomberg.

– We are very aware that we are not there yet, no one has opened the champagne, Kugler said at a recent event, according to Reuters.

The latest inflation measurement in November, as measured by the Fed's key measure PCE, was 2.4 percent.

Swedish growth
Worst year for new businesses since 2009: "Serious"

Last year, 57,400 companies were started in Sweden, which is the worst figure since 2009, writes TT.

Compared to the record year of 2021, 27 percent fewer companies have been started, statistics from Visma Spcs show.

“Four out of five jobs are created in small and medium-sized companies. That is why it is very serious that new entrepreneurship is the lowest since the financial crisis,” writes Boo Gunnarsson, an entrepreneurship expert at Visma Spcs.

The new space race
Blue Origin to send rocket into orbit

Jeff Bezos' space company Blue Origin is getting ready to send a rocket into orbit for the first time next week. Several media outlets are reporting this.

It will be a defining moment for the company in the commercial space race dominated by Elon Musk's Space X, writes AFP.

From previously offering tourists flights to experience weightlessness, the company will next week transport a prototype from the US Department of Defense during the flight.

– The market is really about orbit. There are only a certain number of customers for a quick trip to space, says analyst Laura Forczyk at Astralytical.
