Ukraine: Big problems with French-trained brigade

The Ukrainian army has experienced big problems in the 155th mechanized brigade, nicknamed “Anne of Kyiv”, which was trained in France. This was stated by the commander of the ground forces Mykhailo Drapatyi at a press conference according to the Kyiv Independent.

“This is, of course, a negative lesson, a negative experience, but it should be translated into some kind of preventive action,” he says.

The statement follows a Ukrainian media review that revealed that the brigade has suffered heavy losses and that many soldiers have deserted it due to poor leadership.

The brigade was intended as a pilot project to train heavily armed Ukrainian soldiers in the West.

Ukraine's response
Zelenskyj: Belarus said sorry and asked us to bomb back

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyj says that Belarusian dictator Aleksandr Lukashenko apologized to him a few days after the start of the war in 2022. This is because Russian soldiers invaded Ukraine from Belarusian territory.

– It was Putin who fired the missiles, Lukashenko is said to have said.

Zelenskyj's claim comes in the podcast of the American Lex Friedman, reports the independent Russian newspaper Novaya Gazeta.

Furthermore, Zelenskyj claims that Lukashenko even presented a suitable target in Belarus that Ukraine could bomb in retaliation: the oil refinery in the city of Mazyr, which works mostly with Russian oil.

Zelenskyj says that he rejected this by calling Lukashenko a "murderer".

Two years after the alleged conversation, Lukashenko had at least a completely different tone, the newspaper notes. At that time, he threatened a "tenfold" counterattack if Ukraine fired drones at the country.

"Trump and I will agree - then we will talk to Putin"

Volodymyr Zelenskyj sees Donald Trump's return to the White House as an important key to a ceasefire with Russia. He says this in a three-hour interview with podcaster Lex Fridman.

- Trump and I will agree to offer strong security guarantees, together with Europe. Then we will talk to the Russians, he says and continues:

- We and Trump will come first, and Europe will stand behind Ukraine's position.

He is also asked what Kyiv needs to agree to a ceasefire. He replies that the minimum required is security guarantees for the areas not occupied by Russia.

- Without that, Putin will return.

The salute in Kursk: The enemy gives everything when they see the CV90

Ukrainian soldiers that Expressen has met at the front in Kursk pay tribute to the Swedish CV90 combat vehicle.

Serhiy Dibrov, a press officer for the 21st Mechanized Brigade, describes the vehicle as “the best we have,” and says it has become one of the Russians’ top priority targets.

“As soon as they see a CV90 in the field, they throw everything they have into knocking it out. The vehicle is a very serious reinforcement for our infantry,” he says.

The vehicle is primarily used to deliver soldiers, ammunition, and food to the front, as well as evacuate the wounded. But the CV90, which the Swedish Armed Forces call Stridsfordon 90, is also used as fire support for the infantry.
