The Israel-Hamas War

The Israel-Hamas War|The Israel-Iran relationship
Analysis: The regime does not seem to be preparing the people for war

If Iran is on the verge of war, it is something that is noticed surprisingly little in the country's media, notes The Guardian's Patrick Wintour in an analysis. He writes that the Iranian media instead report on completely different things and that people in the capital, Tehran, seem to be behaving as usual for the most part.

The regime does not seem to be preparing the country for a major conflict, notes Wintour. It could be that they don't want to reveal their plans, he believes, but he also believes that Iran really wants to avoid an escalating situation.

"The low-key stance may be due to the regime not wanting to spread fear. And keeping the enemy guessing, while Israel's civilian population listens for air raids, is a small victory in itself," he writes.

SVT's correspondent Samir Abu Eid lists five possible ways Iran can strike. One of the scenarios he imagines is that the attack does not come now, when everyone expects it, but later as a surprise.

- In the entire region, many are at least prepared for an Iranian attack, and it could come at any time, he says.

Iran has repeatedly vowed to retaliate for Israel's attack on the Iranian consulate in Syria. Israel has accused Iran of escalating the conflict and warned that any attack could be retaliated against.

Israel: Iran is escalating - there will be consequences

Iran's boarding of an Irsaeli-owned ship means an escalation of the conflict and will have consequences. This is what Israeli military spokesman Daniel Hagari says in a statement on X.

"Israel is on high alert. We are prepared to defend Israel from continued aggression from Iran. We are also ready to respond," says Hagari, according to Reuters.

Iranian state media confirmed earlier today that a ship had been boarded in the Strait of Hormuz. The vessel is owned by an Israeli entrepreneur. Iran has previously vowed revenge for Israel's attack on the Iranian co
