The alarm goes off in Tel Aviv for the first time in months, international news agencies report.
Hamas' branch al-Qassam Brigades claims to have fired rockets from Gaza.
Hama's armed branch, the al-Qassam Brigades, states in a statement on Telegram that it launched a "large rocket attack", writes Reuters.
This is the first time in several months that the flight alarm sounds in Tel Aviv, AP writes.
According to correspondents at the AFP news agency, at least three explosions have been heard over central Israel, TT writes.
The IDF confirms on Twitter that rockets were fired from Rafah, in the direction of central Israel.
One person is said to have been slightly injured in Herzliya, writes the Jerusalem Post.
