Spain will grant amnesty to hundreds of Catalan separatists who were previously suspected or convicted of crimes, several media reports.
"In politics, just as in life, forgiveness is more powerful than hostility," writes Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez on X.
The bill was voted through in parliament by a vote of 177-172 and has been controversial.
The separatists are said to have been involved in the failed attempt to break free from Spain seven years ago.

Spanish Parliament: Green light for amnesty law
The Spanish Parliament has on Thursday approved a controversial amnesty law, several news agencies report. The law means that hundreds of Catalan separatists involved in an independence attempt in 2017 are granted amnesty.
The law opens the way for Carles Puigdemont to become president of the Catalans again. He fled the country and made his way to Belgium after the failed attempt seven years ago.
