No Gripen to Ukraine - Sweden is asked to pause plans
Sweden has been asked to pause plans to send Gripen planes to Ukraine, says Defense Minister Pål Jonson (M) to TT.
The reason is that Belgium, the Netherlands, Denmark and Norway promised to send F-16 planes and therefore the Gripen has to wait.
- We have been urged by the other countries that drive the coalition to wait with the Gripen system, Jonson tells the news agency.
The Minister of Defense does not rule out the possibility of sending Gripen planes to Ukraine in the future.
- But right now the focus on the Ukrainian side is on implementing the F-16 program.

The government presents a new energy package for Ukraine of SEK 650 million.
The aim is, among other things, to keep Ukraine's schools, hospitals and transport going, despite the Russian attacks on the energy system, writes TT.

Jonson: No limitations geographically for Archer
NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg has called on the member states to loosen restrictions on arms support to Ukraine so that Western weapons can be used against targets inside Russia, Ekot reports.
For Sweden and the use of the Archer weapon system, there are no such restrictions, says Defense Minister Pål Jonson (M).
He refers to international law and Ukraine's right to defend itself inside and outside its territory.
Belgium will send 30 F-16 planes to Ukraine

The announcement comes just hours before Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyj meets Belgian Prime Minister Alexander De Croo in Brussels, where they are expected to sign an agreement on security guarantees, writes TT.

Ukraine wants to see Biden at the summit - Kremlin: "Absurd"
If US President Joe Biden doesn't come to the peace summit in Switzerland next month, it would be giving Russian leader Vladimir Putin a standing ovation. This is what Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi says and calls on other leaders to participate, writes AFP.
- I think the peace summit needs President Biden and other leaders, who are watching the US response, need him there too, says the president.
Biden has not yet confirmed whether he will attend the conference. One leader who will not be coming is Putin, as Zelenskyy has ruled out the Kremlin's participation because the Russian government is "doing everything" for "a further expansion of the war".
The Kremlin, for its part, calls the peace summit "absurd".
- From our point of view, the conference is completely hopeless to be able to find ways to resolve the conflict around Ukraine, said Kremlin spokesman Dimitriy Peskov to the state television channel RT, according to AFP.
