Thousands are evacuated - high risk of another landslide
There is an imminent risk of another landslide in Papua New Guinea. It warns the country's authorities for just days after the landslide that may have buried around 2,000 people, AP reports.
Around 8,000 people need to be evacuated if rubble, soil and boulders continue to move and gain speed down the mountain, Serhan Aktoprak of the UN's migrant agency IOM told the news agency.
- My biggest fear now is that bodies will rot... Water is gushing and that can mean serious health risks in connection with infectious diseases.
On Tuesday, the government issued an evacuation order for thousands of people, writes Reuters. According to a UN representative on the ground, it is unlikely to find survivors after the May 24 landslide in Yambali on Papua New Guinea's main island.

UN: "Unlikely" to find more alive after the landslide
Time is running out to find survivors after Friday morning's landslide in Papua New Guinea. A UN spokesperson told AFP that it is now "highly unlikely" that more victims will be found alive.
- It is no longer a rescue operation, it is a rescue operation, says the UN's Niels Kraaier.
Over 2,000 people are believed to have been buried alive when the landslide occurred. According to the UN's assessment this weekend, around 670 people are feared to have died, but that number is likely to rise.
