Expert: The reconnaissance plan will be very effective

The two Swedish radar reconnaissance planes that Sweden is now donating to Ukraine will make the country's air defense much more effective. This is what Roger Djupsjö, major at the Norwegian Defense Academy, tells DN.

The plane sees further into Russia than a ground radar, and can therefore provide earlier warnings to the air defense about Russian robots and drones. In addition, they can cooperate with the F-16 fighter jets that are to be introduced into the Ukrainian air force, according to Djupsjö.

- F-16s can act on their own but work much better if they are supported by this type of radar system which can reach very far and which can also guide them towards the incoming threats.
