Independent presidential candidate Robert Kennedy Jr. attacks Donald Trump for handling the pandemic in 2020, writes Politico.
- Through the shutdowns, mandatory masks and travel restrictions, Trump overlooked the biggest attack on individual freedom in the history of the United States, Kennedy Jr. said in a speech at the Libertarian Party convention.
In opinion polls, Kennedy Jr., who has become famous for his conspiracy theories about vaccines, gets about 10 percent of voter support in several of the US's key states. He is thus expected to be able to have a major impact on the election results, writes the New York Times.

Blackstone billionaire backs Trump again
Blackstone's CEO Stephen Schwarzman states that he supports Republican Donald Trump in the autumn US presidential elections, writes the Financial Times.
The billionaire withdrew support for Trump after storming the Capitol in 2021 and initially backed challenger Chris Christie in the primaries. But in a statement, Schwarzman now states that partly rising anti-Semitism and that he considers Joe Biden's policies to be "misleading" caused him to change sides.
Schwarzman also writes that he is concerned that the US economy, immigration and foreign policy are taking the country in the wrong direction.
"Because of this, I plan to vote for change and support Donald Trump in the election."
According to the FT, Schwarzman's open backing may now make several outspoken Republican billionaires in finance dare to show their Trump support.
