Japan warned of ballistic missile from North Korea
Japanese television broadcasts were interrupted with warnings that North Korea has fired what is suspected to be a ballistic robot in the direction of the country, Japan's NHK reports.
Residents of the Okinawa islands, which lie between Japan and Taiwan, were told to seek shelter, but not long after the warning ended, authorities announced that the robot would not reach the island group.
Japanese government officials tell the public service company that the robot disappeared from radar and that the launch is suspected to have failed.
Earlier in the day, North Korea informed Japan that it plans to launch a satellite on Monday.
