Sources: The White House weighs whether the "red line" is crossed
The White House is weighing whether Israel's attack on the tent camp in Rafah means that it has crossed the "red line" on which Joe Biden conditioned continued arms support, two official sources told Axios.
Earlier in May, Biden threatened to withdraw the supply of certain types of weapons if Israel's military entered populated areas of Rafah. Later, the White House clarified that even humanitarian crises resulting from the mass movement of civilians from Rafah can mean that the border has been crossed.
"The horrific images following Israel's attack in Rafah overnight, which killed dozens of innocent Palestinians, are heartbreaking," the US National Security Council wrote in a statement earlier Monday.

The UN Security Council will hold a crisis meeting after Israel's attack on a tent camp in Rafah on the night of Monday, diplomatic sources told AFP.
The meeting is taking place at the request of non-permanent member Algeria, and is to be held behind closed doors on Tuesday.
At least 45 people were killed in the attack, which was condemned by a number of countries. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu calls it "a tragic mistake".

EU ministers discussed sanctions against Israel
For the first time, EU foreign ministers have had "significant" discussions about potential sanctions against Israel. This is what Ireland's Minister of Foreign Affairs Micheál Martin says, according to Politico.
- International humanitarian law and respect for human rights are at the core of the EU's existence and right now clearly in focus, especially after the attack last night when so many innocent people died.
The talks were held during a meeting of EU foreign ministers on Monday, following the Israeli attack on the Rafah tent camp that killed at least 45 people.
