US and China in defense meeting - first time since 2022
The defense ministers of China and the United States respectively, Don Jung and Lloyd Austin, met during a meeting on Friday, writes Reuters. The two defense leaders are in Singapore to participate in the Asian Defense Forum in Shangri-La. It is the first time since 2022 that the countries meet to discuss defense issues.
Ahead of the meeting, US officials said Lloyd Austin will raise issues related to Taiwan, China's territorial claims in the South China Sea and support for Russia, CNN reports. At the same time, the channel writes that the talks will not result in "any significant progress" in the relationship between the countries.
