US emergency aid pier damaged - deliveries paused
The floating pier that the US has built to deliver emergency aid to Gaza has been damaged and deliveries are on hold. This is stated by Israeli and American sources for NBC News.
As recently as last Saturday, the pier was working, but after that, heavy storms have destroyed parts of the gangway, which means that help cannot be brought ashore. It is expected to take about a week to repair the gangway.
Shortly after the information was published, the Pentagon confirmed it and announced that the pier would be temporarily removed.
"Reconstruction and repair of the pier will take at least a week," said deputy spokeswoman Sabrina Singh.
The pier has been a troubled history for the United States. It opened just two weeks ago and at least three people have been injured in it since then.

Israel takes over border area between Gaza and Egypt
Israel has taken over the demilitarized Philadelphia Corridor that runs along the border between the Gaza Strip and Egypt, AFP reports.
An anonymous source within Israel's military tells the news agency that they have taken "operational control" over the 14 kilometer long border area.
- This does not mean that we have troops on the ground along the entire corridor, but it does mean that we have control, says the source.
According to Israel, Hamas has used the area to bring in equipment and transport fighters. A previous agreement between Israel and Egypt meant that only a very limited number of soldiers were allowed in the area.

Students in Lund are worried about the Palestine activists
Since mid-May, pro-Palestinian activists have been camping in Lundagård park at Lund University. This has affected the study environment, says the university's head of security Fredrik Bexell to TT.
- I want to say that. It is still students and employees who have communicated in various ways that they are worried.
The activists have, among other things, entered institutions and study halls and disturbed students with megaphones and shouts, he continues.
The police have ordered the activists to leave Lundagård by Friday at the latest, when the university's doctoral promotion is to be held. This is because the promotion is a licensed public gathering, unlike the tent camp.
Bexell: "They have gone from house to house and delivered messages"
