Three arrested for murder in the case of murdered Sikh leader
Canadian police have arrested three people in the investigation into the murder of Sikh leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar, who was shot in a suburb of Vancouver last summer, several media reports.
It concerns three people who are all suspected of murder. According to the CBC's sources, it is being investigated whether the suspects can also be connected to three other murders, including that of an 11-year-old boy who was killed in Edmonton.
All three should have come to Canada from India in 2021, writes The Guardian.
Canada has accused the Indian government of being behind the killing of Hardeep Singh Nijjar and the case has created a diplomatic crisis between the countries.

Sources: Trump considers higher percentage targets for NATO
Donald Trump may try to get the NATO countries to spend a larger percentage of GDP on defense than today if he is elected president again, according to information to The Telegraph.
According to the sources, he is considering pushing for today's two percent target to be changed to a three percent target. Under such a proposal, military aid to Ukraine would not be included in the figure.
Right now, only Poland, Greece and the USA reach over three percent. Last year, 11 out of 32 countries met the two percent target.

Over 2,000 protesters arrested: "Definitely be afraid"
More
than 2,100 people have been arrested in the pro-Palestinian protests
organized at American universities since mid-April, writes NBC News.
The
arrests have taken place at 39 universities, including the University
of Texas at Austin. There, "all hell broke loose" when the police urged
people to disperse and then arrested an organizer, says 19-year-old
Arwyn Heilrayne.
The 19-year-old was also arrested, but she has difficulty understanding why.
- I wasn't confrontational or anything. But I was definitely scared.
She was initially suspected of trespassing, but the investigation has been closed.
The
protests have led to a debate about whether it is right or not for the
management of a university to call in the police to break up
demonstrations. The debate is also about what is a reasonable
intervention by the police.

Israel rages against Turkey - calls Erdogan "dictator"
Israel
rages against Turkey's decision to cut off all trade with the country.
In a statement from Israel's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Turkish
President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is called "the dictator who dreams of
becoming a sultan", according to the Financial Times.
The
ministry further writes that it wants to see international sanctions
against Turkey, which it considers to have violated trade agreements,
and believes that it damages the Turkish economy more than the Israeli
one.
"This is a mistake that Erdogan will regret."
Turkish
President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has demanded a permanent ceasefire in
Gaza and secured emergency aid for the trade decision to be withdrawn.
