Donald Trump has falsely claimed on social media and in an email from his campaign staff that President Joe Biden gave the authorities permission to kill the ex-president, US media write.
In the email that went out to contributors, it is alleged, among other things, that Biden was ready to "knock out" Trump when his Mar-a-Lago residence was searched by the FBI in 2022 in the investigation into the handling of classified documents.
According to the New York Times, Trump's claims are likely based on a document made public this week. The document, which deals with the specific operation, describes the right to use lethal force according to standard procedure.
According to the Washington Post, the FBI actively chose to conduct the search on a day when Donald Trump was not there.

Poll: Support for Biden lowest in two years
Joe Biden's support among Americans fell to 36 percent in May, compared to 38 percent in April, a new poll by Reuters/Ipsos shows. That's the lowest support in nearly two years, and touches his record low.
The economy is seen as the biggest problem among the respondents. There, 40 percent believe that Trump's policy is better. 30 percent answered Biden, and the rest answered "don't know" or avoided the question.
Voters also prefer Trump's policies on migration, foreign conflicts and terrorism. However, Biden has some lead over Trump in dealing with political extremism.
