20 people are in intensive care after the turbulence aboard a Singapore Airlines plane, according to Thai authorities. This is reported by AFP.
Nine people have undergone surgery and another five are awaiting surgery.
One man died and around 80 were injured when the plane suddenly fell 1,800 meters in three minutes in the heavy turbulence over the Andaman Sea.
The plane, en route from London to Singapore, was forced to make an emergency landing in Bangkok. 221 passengers and 18 crew members were on board when the accident occurred.
This morning, almost 150 passengers on a replacement plane landed in Singapore.
