Expert: The small Baltic states give NATO little time in the event of an attack
The Baltics are in a vulnerable position in the event of a Russian attack. That's what Tony Ingesson, assistant university lecturer in intelligence analysis at Lund University, told TV4 Nyheterna. That after the head of Ukraine's military intelligence said that Russia could take the countries in a week.
According to Ingesson, the size of the countries means that endurance is limited, and therefore the NATO countries would have to strengthen the Baltics very quickly.
- NATO will never have time on its side in the event of an attack.
He further says that the protection has been strengthened since Finland and Sweden joined NATO, and that the scenario raised from the Ukrainian side is the worst outcome.

The election in the United States|The electoral movement
The fight is getting closer: Who will be Trump's running mate?
Hundreds of Republican politicians and donors are gathering at Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago residence in Florida this weekend. And many keep an eye on the participants who could become Trump's closest colleagues if he becomes president again.
This is written by Axios and USA Today, which both list possible names in the fight to become Trump's vice presidential candidate. In the context, mention is made, among others, of Senator Tim Scott, who himself had set his sights on the presidency but dropped out last fall.
Marco Rubio and JD Vance, senators from Florida and Ohio respectively, are other potential running mates. Trump could also choose New York politician Elise Stefanik, who currently sits in the House of Representatives, according to the sites.
No choice has yet been made, assures campaign adviser Brian Hughes, who says anyone who claims to know who the choice will be is lying.

The Israel-Hamas war|The negotiations
Details: Cease fire lasts regardless of what the announcement is
US and Israeli officials downplay hopes of an imminent ceasefire in Gaza. Sources that CNN spoke to believe that it will likely take several days before a final agreement can be reached.
The information comes after reports that Hamas, according to information in several media outlets, is expected to agree to a proposal that, in a first phase, would involve a 40-day pause while simultaneously releasing a larger number of Israeli hostages and imprisoned Palestinians.
Qatar, Egypt, the United States and a delegation from Hamas are currently in Cairo for talks. Israel has no delegation in place and says it is ready to participate only if Hamas gives guarantees about the hostages in Gaza.

France accused of carrying out 'social cleansing'
Human rights groups are strongly critical of the actions of the French authorities ahead of this summer's Olympics in Paris, reports Politico. 80 groups that help the homeless and undocumented believe that there is a "social cleansing" going on.
It is exemplified by how around 80 asylum seekers a week were forced to move from a temporary camp, to instead be offered a place in the city of Angers, about 25 kilometers away.
The critics believe that France is not living up to the stated promise of an inclusive championship with a host that takes social responsibility.
- It could have been, and could still be the case, but there is a lack of political will, says Léa Filoche, who represents the local government in social matters.
She believes that proposals to finance emergency accommodation have been rejected at national level.
