Tesla's future
Analyst: Disaster - now Musk faces a crossroads
Despite Tesla flagging that it had major problems in the first quarter - and that many analysts therefore lowered their forecasts - Tuesday's sales figures came in almost 14 percent below the average estimate. That's the biggest miss since 2017, which is as far back as Bloomberg's data goes.
Deutsche Bank analyst Emmanuel Rosner cut his forecast twice but still landed too high. He fears that the problem is bigger than bottlenecks that disrupt production and delivery.

Wedbush's analyst Dan Ives, who is one of the company's most outspoken optimists, finds it difficult to find explanations for a quarter he describes as a "complete disaster".
"For Musk, this is a crossroads. Either he leads Tesla through this turmoil or we face a difficult time," he writes according to CNBC.
The stock fell 5 percent on Tuesday and is now down 33 percent this year.
