Representatives from China, Indonesia and Saudi Arabia are trying to persuade the EU not to go ahead with a proposal to seize state Russian assets to use for the reconstruction of Ukraine. Sources told Politico.
According to the site's information, there is concern that such a measure would create a precedent that would allow countries' own assets to be confiscated in the future. The countries, which are described as "sympathetic" to Russia, are said to have tried to convince the EU countries to oppose the proposal from the United States and Great Britain.
The sum discussed in this context is over 200 billion euros.
Recently, the EU countries reached an agreement in principle which means that they should be able to send the return that frozen Russian assets bring.

French-Russian spat on Ukraine after ministerial talks
French and Russian defense ministers Sébastien Lecornu and Sergei Shoigu have held a telephone conversation, writes AFP. According to TT, it has not happened in a year and a half.
In a statement, the Russian Ministry of Defense wrote that the conversation was held at the initiative of France, and that it noted "a willingness to dialogue on Ukraine."
This was quickly denied by France.
- France neither accepted nor proposed anything like that, says a source close to Lecornu.
The French Ministry of Defense confirms that Ukraine was discussed, but adds that Lecornu underlined French support for Kyiv.
The main purpose must have been to discuss terrorist threats, a French source told Reuters. France raised its threat level after the terrorist attack in Moscow.

WCK: The convoy attack was systematic – car by car
Israel attacked the World Central Kitchen (WCK) convoy "systematically - car by car". This is what the aid organization's founder José Andrés tells Reuters.
According to Andrés, it was not a misdirected airstrike – the attack took place over a distance of one and a half to two kilometers.
- It was a very clearly marked humanitarian convoy with signs on the car roofs and red and colorful logos.
Israel's Finance Minister Nir Barkat calls the accusations "nonsense", according to the BBC. The military claims the attack was a mistake. The country's president, Isaac Herzog, has apologized to WCK and expressed his "deep despair".
Among the seven dead aid workers are three Britons, a Pole, an Australian, one with American and Canadian citizenship and a Palestinian driver, AP writes.
