Heavy fire in weapons factory

There is currently a heavy fire at a factory in Berlin belonging to the company Diehl Metal Applications GmbH.

The Diehl group is active, among other things, in the arms industry.

At the moment there is a lot of smoke at the site, reports the newspaper Berliner Zeitung.

Because chemicals are said to have burned in the building, the population on the nearby streets was warned. Residents are asked to keep windows and doors closed.

Berlin's fire department is on the scene with large forces.

Russian media have also reported on the incident.

The Russian government newspaper RG.RU writes: "There is a fire in a factory belonging to the Diehl defense industry group in Berlin. This company manufactures, among other things, the air defense system Iris-T" (used by Ukraine).
