Quarrels within NATO - notification of successors delayed
The announcement of who will replace Jens Stoltenberg as NATO Secretary General is being delayed, Ekot reports after a meeting between the member states' ambassadors on Tuesday.
According to Ekot's information, Turkish President Erdogan and Hungarian Prime Minister Orbán refuse to accept Mark Rutte as the new NATO chief. In doing so, they have come into conflict with, among others, the United States, Great Britain, France and Germany, which stood behind the Dutch prime minister.
The choice is between Rutte and Romanian President Klaus Iohannis. Sweden has so far not taken an open position.
