Continued protests against the government: "Don't care"
For the third evening in a row, thousands of Israelis gathered on Tuesday outside the Knesset parliament in Jerusalem to protest against the government and the war in Gaza, Ekot reports. Around a hundred protesters have camped at the site since Sunday. The protesters are demanding new elections and the resignation of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
- Our current government simply does not care about us, says one protester.
The New York Times reports that protesters and police clashed. According to information from the police, protesters must have tried to force barriers outside Netanyahu's residence.
Pictures from the scene show how the police used water cannons against the protesters.

Analysis: Can Netanyahu survive the war in Gaza?
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is a political survivor who always seems to come back, but the question is whether he can also survive the war in Gaza, writes the AFP news agency in an analysis.
AFP notes that the 74-year-old is not only struggling with failing health – he had a pacemaker implanted last year and recently also had surgery for a hernia – he is also deeply unpopular with low confidence ratings. To this must now also be added the growing protests against the war and accompanying demands for new elections.
"The coalition government cruises between the crises and the enemies circle like never before over the leader of Israel's most right-wing government of all time," writes AFP.
It is the growing protests that pose a real threat to Netanyahu, says The Guardian's Jerusalem correspondent Bethan McKernan in the newspaper's podcast "Today in Focus".
He states that a new election would probably be worrying for Netanyahu, who would likely lose and thus again risk being put on trial for corruption.
