Israel's military admits that a "serious mistake" was made when seven aid workers were killed in an air raid in Gaza, TT reports. According to military chief Herzi Halevi, the mistake was due to a wrong identification at night "during a war, under very complex conditions".
- It shouldn't have happened, he says.
He also says that the incident should be investigated and that the military should learn from it.
The incident has caused great anger in the outside world. Among other things, US President Joe Biden said during the night of Wednesday that this is not an isolated incident and that Israel has not done enough to protect either aid workers or civilians.
- This conflict has been one of the worst in recent times in terms of how many aid workers have been killed, Biden said according to AFP.

Iran vows revenge after consulate attack in Syria
Iran and the Lebanese Shia militia Hezbollah warn of retaliation after Monday's attack on the Iranian consulate in Syria, TT writes. 13 people were killed, at least seven of whom were leaders in Iran's Revolutionary Guard.
Iran's supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, writes that Iran should "make them regret this crime" and the country's president Ebrahim Raisi writes that "this cowardly act will not go unanswered".
"Obviously, this crime will not pass without punishment and revenge being inflicted on the enemy," Hezbollah said in a statement.
Many observers point to Israel as being responsible for the attack, in which the target is believed to have been the Revolutionary Guard's top commander, General Mohammad Reza Zahedi.
Israel has not claimed responsibility for the attack.
