Thai democracy activist Parit “Penguin” Chiwarak is facing lese majeste charges. The regime is cracking down on protesters who have called for reform of the monarchy. 1/2Since 2017 the regime had mostly stopped using the lese majeste law, Article 112 of the Thai criminal code, preferring to use the computer crimes act and the sedition law, Article 116. But it seems the regime is now reviving the lese majeste law to try to silence protesters. 2/2
