Russian sources: Putin opens for ceasefire - with frozen front lines in Ukraine
Russian
President Vladimir Putin is ready for a ceasefire based on freezing the
current front lines. This is stated by four Russian sources who either
work with, or have worked with, Putin.
Three of the sources say
Putin recognizes that large-scale advances would require a new national
mobilization, something he does not want. Two of the sources express
that there is increased Russian concern about nuclear weapons
escalation.

Russian prisoners are dwindling in the wake of the Kremlin's invasion
The number of inmates in Russian prisons fell by 58,000 people last year, Reuters reports citing unnamed independent Russian media.
It is part of a sharp downward trend that has been going on since 2009, but among the explanations for last year's decrease is how prisoners were recruited into both the paramilitary Wagner group and Russia's regular forces.
Yevgeny Prigozhin, who led the Wagner group until he was killed in August 2023, has said that 50,000 prisoners joined the group.
Radio Free Europe has previously reported that several prisons have been closed as a result of the decline.
