ICJ orders Israel to end Rafah offensive
The International Court of Justice in The Hague, ICJ, orders Israel to immediately end the offensive in Rafah, reports Reuters. The country is also ordered to open the border crossing to allow humanitarian aid in, and to report within a month what measures have been taken.
During the deliberations on Friday, which are taking place at the request of South Africa, it is stated that the humanitarian situation in the city in Gaza is "catastrophic".
The ruling of the UN court is binding, but the court in practice lacks the power to ensure that it is followed. That Israel would follow the decision is seen as unlikely, writes NBC.

Israel lashes out at Germany after ICC backing
Israel is directing strong criticism at Germany since the German government promised to follow the International Criminal Court in The Hague (ICC) decision, writes the Times of Israel.
Earlier this week, the ICC's chief prosecutor Karim Khan announced that he wants to arrest Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Yoav Gallant in connection with Israel's warfare in Gaza.
On Wednesday, the German government was asked whether it plans to comply with the ICC's arrest warrant, should the court issue one.
- Obvious. We follow the law, replied the spokesperson Steffen Hebestreit.
Israel's ambassador to Germany, Ron Prosor, calls the response "outrageous" and Netanyahu's spokesman Avi Hyman says:
- There are many people in the world who have to use their moral compass and stand on the right side of history.
