The game behind the speech: Sunak demanded to stand in the rain
The pictures cabled out of a dung beetle Rishi Sunak have caused a stir. Now the Daily Mail writes that Sunak insisted on standing outside to talk about the election on July 4.
- He wanted to go out and speak to the nation, says an informant.
The decision was made very recently after a few months of deliberation and took MPs to bed, the newspaper writes further.
Apart from the rain, Sunak had to endure Tony Blair's 1997 campaign song - the catchphrase "Things can only get better" - during the speech. Well-known "anti-Brexit" campaigner Steve Bray played the song at very high volume.

Farage looks towards the US - does not stand for Reform
Nigel Farage is not running for the Reform party in the July election, British media reports. Farage was a co-founder of the Brexit party which later became Reform.
Instead, he must work hard at the grassroots level in the United States for Donald Trump to win the American presidential election. According to Farage, the British election is significant, but he believes that the US election is more important on the global stage.
The Independent writes that Farage's announcement is a relief for Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, whose Conservative Party risked losing large numbers of voters to Reform if the political profile had run.
